Led a national membership organization that supports community design practitioners.
Role: Board Member, Research Director
Client/Partner: The Association for Community Design
Location: National / Remote
Dates: 2016 - 2021
Context:
The Association for Community Design (ACD) is a nonprofit membership organization for community design centers and designers working to advance equity and justice. ACD provides resources, connections, and support for designers to use their work to dismantle systemic injustice and work towards an equitable built environment.
Process:
As a Board member and Director of Research, I’ve been involved in numerous parts of ACD’s growth and development over the past decade. I’ve served on multiple committees and played a role in the strategic planning process, helped write grants, and supported the production of the annual conference.
Outcomes:
As a volunteer and staff member, I’ve co-led the curation and production of ACD’s 400+ person annual conference, facilitated a multi-year strategic planning process the resulted in a revised mission, vision, and organizational structure, helped secure $250K+ in grants, and launched remote professional development workshops during covid.
