Designed and produced a series of case studies on innovative affordable housing projects.

Role: Researcher, Writer, Graphic Designer

Client/Partner: Enterprise Community Partners

Location: Boston, MA / Remote

Dates: 2013 - 2018

Context:

Enterprise Community Partners needed materials to help share information about best practices in affordable housing development with key partners. Working closely with their leadership team, I developed a plan to create a series of case studies, including a design template, research protocol, brand guidelines, and the first set of case studies. These materials were planned to be used at upcoming conferences and professional development workshops with community development corporations.

Process:

  • Qualitative Research: After reviewing all available project data, I conducted interviews with the designers and architects who worked on each affordable housing development, and gathered additional data on project impacts.

  • Information Design: Merging verbal and visual communication, I designed a series of case studies that use photos, graphics, diagrams, and text to tell the story of innovative affordable housing design projects.

  • Project Management: I led all aspect of the project, and coordinated both print and digital publication of the case studies.

Outcome:

Enterprise Community partners featured the three pilot case studies on their website, used them as informational resources in meetings, and used cover pages as supporting documents for grant proposals. The case study design was also used for a future set of case studies.
